KNIGHT FRANK RECRUITS IN LIVERPOOL

Knight Frank gave a positive sign that the Liverpool market was stabilising with the announcement that a new surveyor has joined the Liverpool team. Paul Kelly, who joins from developer Property Alliance, will be marketing key schemes thoughout the region including UK Land & Property and Pochin's Walker House.

Charles Ardern, joint managing partner and head of Liverpool office commented: "The fact that we have recruited to our Liverpool office reaffirms our commitment to the city and our confidence in the imminent return of the market."


BRABNERS URGES MERSEYSIDE BUSINESSES TO THINK POSITIVE

How are Merseyside's leading businesses facing up to the challenges of the current downturn and what can others learn from their experiences?

That was the topic of discussion at the inaugural Business Leader Series event, organised by North West law firm Brabners Chaffe Street last month.

The firm assembled a panel of CEOs from companies large and small to share their learnings and discuss how they were preparing for the upturn.

Michael Brabner, Senior Partner at Brabners Chaffe Street – who chaired the session – said: "Recessions encourage us to review, restructure and refocus - often making us fitter, stronger and better able to capitalise on a post-recession economy. Promoting positive thinking across the Merseyside business community is a principal objective of our Business Leader Series."


RYDER DESIGNS FIRST ROCHDALE BSF SCHOOL

Ryder Architecture has been appointed as lead designer by Carillion, selected as preferred bidder for Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

The Horton-house based practice will deliver five more schools in the £180M 13-school programme over the next four years, and will act as the design champion for the entire programme through a Carillion-led consortium, inspiredspaces. Hollingworth Business and Enterprise College will be the first school to be completed.

Ian Kennedy, Ryder director said: "We are delighted to be working with Carillion again with whom we already have a strong relationship on several BSF programmes including Tameside and South Tyneside and Gateshead (STaG), and on the South Ayrshire Schools PPP."
